Training Classes

Technique classes for dancers are offered as part of the project and will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 25, 26 February, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 26, 26 March 9am-11am at UCT School of Dance.

Classes will be taught by Manuela Lucia Tessi (Mondays) and Kristina Johnstone (Tuesdays) and include release technique, movement research and improvisation.

The focus of the movement classes on Monday and Tuesday mornings is more specifically for dancers to develop their individual movement research. Through softening the joints and working with clear alignment and functional pathways we bring attention to the mechanics of the body and the easeful connection of directing the weight through gravity. We guide movers to work with anatomically conscious choices. The classes draw on release technique, somatic bodywork, developmental pathways and improvisation technique

MusicDance021 is kindly supported by ACT and Nedbank Arts Affinity and in association with Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos.
